Blush Bridal Spotlight: Danika Steinmetz

1. As a bride, you have several choices in the area to find your wedding gown. What brought you to Blush Bridal?

I was looking for something very simple but excellent quality. The simpler a design is, the more the quality shows. I chose Blush Bridal because I hoped it would have the kind of dress I was looking for and that it would be a reasonable price. I was not disappointed!

2. How did you know your dress was THE one?

My mom, sister (Maid of Honor), and I were pulling out dresses for me to try and when I pulled out this one we all said "that's the one". I had about six to try on but I tried that one on second and after I saw it on. I didn't even bother trying on the other four. I knew I had my dress.

3. What advice would you give a bride when deciding on their dream gown?

I looked online a LOT (pinterest and I are tight) to figure out what I wanted. As styles and fashion fads change every year, I knew I wanted something classic and timeless. Its also really important to know your body and know what lines look good with your body shape. For me, it was a true waist and A-line skirt. But it is different for everyone. Also, try to find a dress that costs on the lower end of your budget, as alterations can add up (but are necessary to make your dress fit like it was made for you).

4. In a few words, tell us how you met your husband!

Adam and I met dancing the Nutcracker Pas De Deux in 2012. He was a college graduate and I was a senior in High-school with the absolute biggest crush on him. I went away for college and we lost touch, but the December after I graduated, Adam and I reconnected on a dating app and within a year we were married. When you know, you really do know..... and I started knowing seven years ago when he was my handsome nutcracker prince.

5. What was your favorite part of the wedding?

I come from a family of musicians, so having friends and relatives participate in live music at our wedding was so special to me. We had a pianist, violinist, cellist, and chamber choir perform in the ceremony, and a jazz trio at the reception. The processional pieces were "The Swan" and the Nutcracker Pas De Deux, which were the dance solo and duet that I performed in 2012 with Adam. My sister sang "Oh Perfect Love", which my aunt had sung at my parents wedding, and the chamber choir sang a beautiful benediction with my father conducting. We exited to Felix Mendelssohn's rousing Wedding March.

6. Where was your wedding held?

The wedding was at Wheatland Presbyterian Church, and the reception was at the Trust Performing Arts Center

7. What words of wisdom would you pass onto brides for their wedding day?

Delegate so you don't have to be in charge of anything the day of, and trust those people to do their jobs. I was so relaxed on my wedding day. I was able to just enjoy and go with the flow, and it was wonderful. Also, use SO MANY BOBBY PINS in your veil!!!! Mine fell out as we recessed! It made for a great story, and some hilarious pictures, but I wish I had pinned it in better! Also, make sure someone has a Tide Pen. Towards the end of the night, someone spilled red wine on my dress and a dear soul happened to have a Tide Pen in her purse and it worked magic!

8. What was your something borrowed? (If you didn’t do this, any special touch or tradition you added to your gown or wedding day)

My veil was borrowed from a dear college friend. I had really wanted a cathedral veil and I remembered loving the lace detailing on hers so I asked if I could borrow it and she was so excited for someone else to get to enjoy it! It was so special to wear, it was perfect. She and her husband are two of my favorite humans and I greatly admire their relationship, so I'm pretty sure the veil was good luck because marriage has been such a source of joy and encouragement so far, and it literally gets better every day.
