Blush Bridal Spotlight: Allie McCaw-Niederer

We love sharing about our brides, as they share with us the moments that made their wedding day so magical! Today, we are so honored to be sharing about one of our very own Bridal Consultants, Allie McCaw-Niederer! Allie is one of the most kindhearted and fun people and her wedding day looked so magical! We are so excited to be sharing with you a little of their love story and wedding day fun!

Tell us a little of your and Michael's love story!

We are both professional actors and met playing opposite each other on stage! We respected each other a lot as coworkers and became really good friends. We’d chat for only about 5 minutes every day, in between set changes, about what happened on Game of Thrones or what movies we thought were going to win Oscars that year. It was over a year before we thought of each other in any romantic way, but once it hit both of us, it was all over! We fell in love quickly and dated for just over a year before Michael proposed to me. Both of us used to roll our eyes when people said “marry your best friend”, but it was so true for us. Having a sweet friendship first has meant everything for our marriage. We often quote the line from Parks and Rec, “I love you AND I like you”.

As a bride, you have many choices when it comes to where you shop for your bridal gown.

What brought you to Blush Bridal and what was the experience like finding your dress?

I went to two other stores before I found Blush. A friend told me they were so lovely to work with so I stopped in. I was blown away. The care that the consultants took in finding dresses I’d love, and the selection of dresses at my price point was amazing. I didn’t feel pressured, just supported and encouraged. I tried on only 3 dresses! The second one I tried was the one I picked.

What were your favorite details about your wedding dress?

I was immediately obsessed with the dreamy skirt and golden color. The lace detailing was so pretty and not overdone - the only concern I had at first was that I’d always wanted sleeves and this dress was sleeveless. Thankfully my awesome consultant Danielle let me know that the designer, Moonlight, did awesome and adorable custom work. She called right there and described the sleeves I wanted, and they told me they’d add them! So I felt extra special having a customized bridal gown!

What was the inspiration for your wedding decor and details?

We didn’t really have a theme for our wedding, but words that we kept coming back to were: elegant but cozy. My dress being golden inspired us to use lots of gold and candlelight in our space. One of my friends very kindly said the space “felt like Christmas!”, and that’s about the best compliment ever!

One of the fun details we had was Rita’s Italian Ice at our cocktail hour! Michael truly loves Rita’s, more than just about anything, so we had a “Groom’s Flavor” and a “Brides Flavor” for our guests to try. It was so fun and delicious as always.

What was your favorite part about your wedding day?

Our first dance was my favorite moment from the whole night. All the big tasks were checked off, we were husband and wife, and we got to dance to a song that meant so much to us ("Heaven’s Knife" by Josh Garrels). The sweet words, that my brand-new husband whispered to me as we danced, are words I’ll never forget as long as I live! My second favorite moment was looking around the dance floor and seeing all my favorite people busting a move!

Now having worked at Blush Bridal, what advice would you give to brides who are still looking for their dream dress?

Don’t overwhelm yourself with too many opinions! I, myself, struggle with wanting affirmation for decisions I make, but with your dress and with your wedding in general - YOUR opinion matters most! Wear what you feel most YOU in.

What advice would you give to brides as they prepare for their big day?

Invest in your relationship MORE than in planning your wedding. Yes, planning the wedding is fun and exciting, but you’re also planning for a lifetime with your person! Keep the focus on the two of you and make decisions together as much as possible! And just have fun and enjoy the engagement season. It’s so short and can be so challenging- carve out time to still date and laugh and get to know each other, even when you’re up to your eyeballs in spreadsheets!
