Blush Bridal Spotlight: Emily Smucker

Time is flying by!

We cannot believe Fall is almost here! Today we are featuring another one of our stunning brides, Emily Smucker! These gorgeous photos from her big day are giving us all the feels! She looked absolutely stunning in her Christina Wu Exclusive gown and we are so honored to be able to share some of her love story with you today.

Tell us about your love story!

We met online (OkCupid) and had three dates in one week! I kept on asking people if it was normal or if we were going too fast, and they just kept telling me that if it feels right, then it’s fine. We were boyfriend and girlfriend by the end of that first week!

As a bride, you have many options when it comes to where you search for your gown. What brought you to Blush Bridal and what was the experience like finding your dream dress?

We had only been engaged for a month. We hadn't even set a date yet. I was home in Lancaster visiting my parents (I live in Pittsburgh) and I suggested going shopping with my mom, just for fun! The new location had just opened only a couple months before and it was right by my parents' house. So, my mom suggested we go there.

My experience at Blush Bridal was phenomenal. I probably tried on about half of the store but my consultant was patient, helpful and fun. I ended up getting THE dress at the end of that day without going to any other bridal boutique.

What were your favorite details about the dress you chose?

My favorite details of the dress were the off the shoulder sleeves and the all over lace appliqué.

Tell us about the inspiration for your decor or any of your other details!

There wasn’t really a theme or inspiration to our wedding. Colin wanted to wear a Navy suit so that kind of guided our color scheme of navy, blush and gold. I wanted a classic, romantic feel to every aspect of our wedding, from the church, to the dress, to the reception. I wanted to be able to look back on my wedding day and have the general style stand the test of time. We tried our best to steer clear of trends when it came to decor and the general feel of our wedding day.

What was your favorite part about your wedding day?

I can’t pick a favorite part of our wedding. We had two years to plan our wedding, so honestly everything was perfect. In my opinion, anyone who says something will go wrong at your wedding, just didn’t have enough time to plan. To top it off, we had the most beautiful weather on our special day, after weeks of rain! I wouldn’t change a single thing about it!

What advice would you give to other brides as they search for their dream dress and prepare for their wedding day?

My advice would be to go wedding dress shopping with as few people as possible. Too many opinions can being confusing. I only went with my mom, which was perfect! Also, don’t go in with any expectations. It’s fine to have an idea of what you want, but don’t be afraid to try on something you normally wouldn’t. I almost didn’t try on the dress I chose because it didn’t look like much on the mannequin. In the end, I had tried on so many other dresses, I thought, what was the harm in trying on one more?
